Manchester City continued their good form by handing Steven Gerrard his first Premier League loss since taking over as Villa Boss.
At halftime, the Citizens led by two goals, with Dias starting the scoring with a curling attempt.
Silva then doubled City’s lead by converting Jesus’ looping cross at the far post with a superb volley.
Villa came out firing in the second 45 minutes, scoring within the first two minutes, but they were unable to beat Ederson for the second time.
Substitute Chukwuemeka got the closest, but Ederson saved his left-footed effort in the 74th minute.
City have now won six consecutive games in all competitions, which is quite an accomplishment considering Kevin De Bruyne, Foden, and Gundogan were all missing against Villa.
At the weekend, they travel to Watford, while Villa entertain Leicester City on Sunday afternoon.
Steven Gerrard to Amazon Prime;
“We were really close to taking something out of the game. Second half was really good. I said to them at half-time let’s believe in ourselves and take it to the wire. I thought we were terrific at times. We pushed City all of the way.”
