Simy Nwankwo has joined Serie A newcomers Salernitana on a season long with an option to buy for €6m including bonuses from Crotone.
The Nigerian forward was previously linked with a move to Udinese, Real Mallorca, Bologna and Tottenham Hotspur but decided to remain in Serie A.
Salernitana wrote on the club website saying;
“The US Salernitana 1919 announces that it has reached an agreement with FC Crotone for the temporary transfer with the obligation to redeem the striker class ’92 Simeon Tochukwu Nwankwo. The player will wear the number 25 shirt.”
Simy is expected to team up with compatriot and forgotten Super Eagles midfielder Joel Obi at the Estadio Arechi.
The 29-year-old scored over 20 goals in 38 Serie A matches last season.
