Serbia won their group on Sunday and qualified for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar automatically after a spectacular late goal that broke Portugal’s hearts.
Sanches took advantage of a defensive blunder to score early in the game for Portugal.
However, after that goal, the visitors rallied brilliantly and created multiple chances before finally drawing level through Tadic, who scored after a terrible Patricio error resulted in the ball trickling over the line.
In the second half, the visitors had big periods of dominance as well, but it appeared they were running out of time.
But Tadic fired a superb cross to Mitrovic at the back post in the dying seconds of the 90th minute to hand Serbia a 2-1 lead.
This resulted to huge celebrations, and they were able to hold on during injury time to secure a thrilling victory.
The Stojkovic’s men finished unbeaten in the group after winning six out of their eight games and will be getting set for the competition next year.
While Portugal will be battling it all in the play-offs if they want to make it to Qatar after losing just one game in their qualifying group.
