On Sunday, Casa Pia defeated Vilafranquense 2-1 in the Portuguese Second Division, with Godwin netting in the second half.

The Nigerian grabbed his 10th league goal of the season to help secure an important victory for Casa Pia at the Pina Manique.

The hosts grabbed the lead in 40th minute through their defender – Cruz Lelo, who scored from penalty spot.

Only to see their lead slip away 53 minutes into the game courtesy of an own-goal from the defender – Cruz Lelo, leading the visitors to level the scores 1-1.

Before Godwin managed to put his team ahead again five minutes later with a simple tap-in, and it appeared to be the match winner after the final whistle.

The Nigerian forward now has ten goals and three assists in twenty-five league games this season.

The 25-year-old Nigerian will be looking to retain his scoring prowess when Casa Pia visits Leixdes on Sunday.

The Filipe Martins’ team now has 57 points after 33 games, just two points behind the league leaders, while Vilafranquense is 11th with 41 points.

With the win, Saviour Godwin and his side will be hoping to be promoted to the Portuguese Premier League.
