Saviour Godwin grab ninth league goal of the season in Casa Pia away victory

Saviour Godwin, a Nigerian player, was in cruise control over the weekend, leading his team – Casa Pia to a comfortable LigaPro victory over Académica Coimbra.

The Filipe Martins side defeated Académica Coimbra 2-0 in their home ground to grab all three points in the Portuguese Second Division.

The visitors took the lead after Zé Castro scored an own goal 21 minutes into the game, before Godwin put the game in the end zone with a goal in the 62nd minute.

With this goal, he currently has twelve involvements in twenty-four league appearances (nine goals and three assists) for the Portuguese side.

Saviour Godwin, who has represented Nigeria at all junior levels, started the month of April on a high note and has notched a total of ten goals in all competitions.

The 25-year-old will be seeking to maintain his scoring record when Casa Pia visits Farense away from home on Saturday.

The promotion-chasing side is only a point behind the league leaders, while Académica Coimbra is on the verge of relegation.

Saviour Godwin and his team are five points clear of the promotion berths in the Portuguese Premier League with six games left to play.
