Having started 2022 without a goal, C.Ronaldo finally had one at the back of the net as United were 2-0 victors over Brighton.
The first half was a cagey 0-0 affair between both sides, Brighton with their longest unbeaten run and United winless in their last 3 games with two draws and a penalty defeat in the FA Cup.
Ronaldo gave United the lead in the 51st minute with a wonder strike and a passionate celebration to follow suit, maybe a sigh of relief following the end of his goal drought.
3 minutes later, Brighton were reduced to 10 men, Lewis Dunk sent off for a reckless tackle and a straight red card, and United capitalized but late on in the 97th minute as Bruno Fernandes capped off the victory in style.
