Chelsea player of the year in their last campaign – Mason Mount, has been chosen as the most outstanding performer following his superb display for the Blues during their preseason friendly against Mexican team – Club America on Sunday morning.

Chelsea took the Allegiant Stadium to face their Mexican opponents in Las Vegas on Sunday morning, but struggled to find their footing in the game.

In the opening stages of the game, the Premier League team came off as sluggish and had problems making passes.

It wasn’t until Tuchel made the decision to alter his starting lineup entirely at the halfway point as the likes of Werner, Pulisic, Alonso, Batshuayi, Jorginho, James, Emerson, Mount, Azpilicueta, Ampadu, and Bettinelli were all introduced.

Mount quickly changed the game, and his collaboration with James nearly made it impossible for the Mexican squad to cope. The potent duo helped Chelsea operate well prior to Timo Werner’s opening goal.

The German forward gave the Blues the lead in the 55th minute of the game. But it didn’t last long since James’ questionable backpass took Chelsea goalkeeper Bettinelli off unprepared.

However, James made a lot of effort to make up for it by connecting beautifully with Mount down the pitch. A succession of passes were exchanged between the two as Chelsea made its way to the Club America box, but not much happened as a result.

Before Reece James found Marcos Alonso, who picked it up the ball and passed it to Mount, who was standing on the side of the field.

It’s safe to conclude that the 23-year-old kept the ball before looking to score from the edge of the box, and the finish was fantastic.

After Chelsea regained the lead, the Blues held on to seal the 2-1 victory over Club America, and the English midfielder was named MOTM for his outstanding performance.
