New season, new goals, Odion Ighalo is officially back to what he’s good at doing, banging in goals and this time around, he kicked off the new season in Saudi Arabia with a goal and assist for Al Hilal.

Odion Ighalo has opened his account for the season with a simple poacher’s effort in Al-Hilal’s Saudi Professional League season opener away at Al-Khaleej.

The Super Eagles forward scored a goal and had an assist for Al Hilal, who thrashed Al-Khaleej 2-0 in a Saudi Arabian League game on Thursday,

The Nigerian international scored the opening goal of the game and assisted the second at the Prince Mohamed bin Fahd Stadium, to help Al Hilal start their 22/23 league campaign with a comfortable win.

Two first half goals from Odion Ighalo and Moussa Marega saw the defending champions crusing to victory with all three points at the final whistle.

Al Hilal kicked off the game with an early lead through the Nigerian forward, who scored barely three minutes into the encounter before turning provider 22 minutes later for Moussa Marega to double their lead.

The home side – Al-Khaleej were hoping to pull themselves back into the game in the second half while Al Hilal came with more hunger for goals but only managed to hold on the double figure until the final whistle.

The win sees Al Hilal move to the top of Saudi Pro League temporarily while Al-Khaleej remain at the submit of the table.

Odion Ighalo enters the history of AlHilal as the first player to score a goal with Al-Hilal new brand identity and will be looking to maintain his scoring form when they face Al Feiha in their next game on Wednesday.
