Mbaoma signed a two-year contract with the Algerian team and will be there for the start of the new Ligue Professionnelle 1 campaign on August 19.

Enyimba would have to play without Mbaoma for their final four games in the Nigeria Professional Football League as a result of the 25-year-old’s transfer.

With 51 points, Enyimba is now ranked sixth, and they’re only two points behind Remo Stars in third place.

The people’s Elephant will be looking to compete in continental football next season after Mbaoma departs.

The 25-year-old is presently the NPFL’s leading scorer with 16 goals but his chances of winning the Eunisell Golden Boot suffered a severe setback as a result of his departure.

Chijioke Akuneto, who is closely behind him, may prevent the former Enyimba star from winning the top scorer honor. Nevertheless, the campaign has been moving forward really well.

Following his efforts for Enyimba, he already made his Super Eagles debut. The 25-year-old played in Nigeria’s friendlies against Mexico and Ecuador, appearing as a substitute in both match’s second half.

Prior to joining Akwa United, Mbaoma began his career at Remo Stars but later rejoined Remo Stars after his time at Akwa United.

In 2019, he left Remo Stars once more to join Enyimba.
