Coach Stanley has praised his Rivers United team for their outstanding effort in a 3-1 NPFL matchday 8 win over Heartland FC at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium on Monday.
With 18 points from eight games, the Wike Boys have already climbed to the top of the NPFL table.
Eguma noted after the game that it was not an easy match but that he is pleased with his team’s victory over Heartland FC.
Morice Chukwu, Chijioke Akuneto, and Ishaq Kayode scored three goals for the Pride of Rivers, who won 3-1.
“I am happy because we got the victory and three points at sake. It was not an easy game. A lot of people before this game would have thought that it would have been a walkover but Heartland really showed that they have something to offer and they way we played first half, we had the game under control. Later in the game, they came back fighting from all angles,” Eguma said.
He added that;
“The players did not concentrate enough in the second half and that was why we conceded that goal. If not it would have been a clean sheets.”
Ishaq Kayode was the star of the show for Rivers United, scoring a goal and assisting another to claim the man of the match award.
