The duo of Abia Warriors and FC Ifeanyi UbahFC, FCIU were the biggest winners on match day 11 of the Nigerian Professional Football League, NPFL.
The talented and veteran forward scored a wonderful brace in between goals from Chukwuemeka Obioma, who netted the opener, and Paul Samson.
Godwin Obaje was in superb scoring form as Warriors continued their resurgence with a 4-1 defeat of Warri Wolves on Sunday in Okigwe, Aba.
The goals were Obaje’s first in the league in over 26 hours of football in NPFL and what a way to end your drought.
For Warriors, it has been an incredible turnaround in fortunes since that three-match ultimatum handed to their coach,Imama Amapakabo.
The Ochendo Babes have now won three of their last four matches, with just one defeat in the last seven NPFL games.
This has seen them pick up 12 valuable points from a possible 21, moving them up to 16th on the log and off relegation waters for the first time since the beginning of the season.
Meanwhile, in Nnewi, just behind the Warriors are FCIU, who also recorded an impressive and important win at home on the day.
The Nnewi Boys were just too strong for their visitors Katsina United following a 3-0 victory.
Evans Ogbonna put them 1-0 ahead at the break before Nonso Nzediegwu doubled their advantage three minutes into the second 45.
Just before the hour mark, whatever hopes Katsina had of taking something positive from the game were doused as Emma Uchegbu sealed the win and three points with a third goal for FCIU.
