Mo Salah late strike rescue 2-2 draw for Liverpool vs Fulham

by: Evolve

What a thrilling first game between Fulham and Liverpool, as the Reds had to come from behind twice to tie 2-2 with the Marco Silva side on Saturday afternoon at Craven Cottage.

The Cottagers seized the lead in the first half on a header from Aleksandar Mitrovic, but it took Darwin Nunez entering the game to grab an equaliser for the Reds

Before Mitrovic successfully executed the penalty shot to give his the team the lead back once more after Virgil van Dijk fouled him.

For the first time since his loss to Manchester City in October 2018, Virgil van Dijk has conceded a penalty in this contest.

Mohamed Salah continued his extraordinary record on the opening day of the season by scoring for the sixth game in a row to give the Reds a share of the victory.

The Red have now snapped the greatest active streak in the league—51 Premier League games—without giving up a penalty.

Liverpool has now accumulated the most Premier League points (115) by overcoming deficits since Jürgen Klopp took over as manager in October 2015.

At the end of the final whistle, Mo Salah became the star man of the show, after grabbing an assist, scoring a goal late to split the points for both teams while Mitrovic also displayed an excellent performance.

Liverpool had a disappointing start, both in terms of performance and outcome.

The next Saturday, Fulham will resume play away at Wolves, while Liverpool’s next game is on August 15 when they entertain Crystal Palace at Anfield.
