PSG cruised into the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League with a comfortable win against Club Brugge at Parc Des Princes on Tuesday night.
They dominated the first half, and despite a strong second-half performance by Club Brugge, which included a well-taken Mats Rits goal, the Parisians were still the superior team.
Penalty for Lionel Messi 15 minutes from time, Messi and Kylian Mbappé finished off a brilliant display in which Brugge had no answer to their brilliance.
Just two minutes into the game, Kylian Mbappe scored the first goal for Mauricio Pochettino’s side. 5 minutes later, he doubled his goal to make the score 2-0.
Lionel Messi then took over the show, scoring 7 minutes from first half break and then adding a brace 76 minutes on from a penalty kick.
Messi was instrumental in preserving PSG’s control throughout the game, but Mbappe was the catalyst for that dominance.
Regardless of the result in this game, PSG would not have moved out of second place, but the overwhelming magnitude of that victory indicates that they are still one of the Champions League’s elite clubs.
