Burnley held Thomas Tuchel Chelsea to a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bride, thanks to Matej Vydra’s strike late into the game during their Premier League clash on Saturday evening.
The Blues after domination majority of the proceedings, failed to capitalize on their chances and Burnley made them pay in the 79th minute as Chelsea defense went asleep.
Kai Havertz fired the Blues ahead in the first half, converting from a fine cross from Reece James.
But Chelsea failed to get a second goal as Thiago Silva struck the post, while Nick Pope made a couple of great stops, including one to deny Callum Hudson-Odoi.
However, the Clarets were rewarded for their resilience as Jay Rodriguez was smart enough to pick out Vydra with a perfect header that allowed the forward to convert to earn his team a share of the spoils.
So far, only two teams have taken points from Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League this season:
◉ CFC 0-1 Man City
◉ CFC 1-1 Burnley
Sean Dyche’s side with a big result.
