In the 64th minute of the second half of the game, the Portuguese Superstar finally made history by becoming the only player to score in five different World Cups.
For the Black Stars, Andre Ayew grabbed an equalizer, but Joao Felix and Rafael Leao responded with their first-ever World Cup goals to put the Selecao in control.
Osman Bukari’s close-range header made for a tense conclusion, and Diogo Costa came perilously close to giving Inaki Williams an equalizer in stoppage time before the forward slipped.
The team led by Fernando Santos hung on to earn the three points needed to begin competing in Group H.
