In the second leg of their Champions League semi-final against Villarreal, Liverpool scored three goals in the second half to win 3-2 on Tuesday night.
Goals from Fabinho, Luis Daz, and Sadio Mané were enough to secure the super comeback and victory for Jurgen Klopp’s men at Estadio de la Ceramica.
The Reds headed into the game with a big lead after their 2-0 win at Anfield the week before, looking to keep their quadruple ambitions alive by securing a position in their 10th European Cup final.
Unai Emery made two changes from the side that lost at Anfield to bring his team into the game with the goal of reaching his sixth European final as a manager.
Both teams got off to a quick start, but it took only three minutes for the hosts to score.
Capoue beats Robertson to the far post and drops a deep cross back into danger, where Dia was first to react and guide the ball into an empty net.
Capoue did an outstanding job of luring Robertson away from the cross and keeping it alive until Dia finished it.
With four minutes left in the first half, the former Arsenal midfielder equalized. Capoue does an excellent job of dodging Robertson once more before providing for Coquelin, who rises unchallenged to take the ball beyond Alisson.
Capoue’s second assist of the game came after he sent an enticing cross that demanded to be attacked. Coquelin was more than willing to help.
Second-half goals from Fabinho, Luis Diaz, and Sadio Mane sent Jurgen Klopp’s squad to Paris, where they will meet either Manchester City or Real Madrid on May 28.
