Bayern Munich are sitting pretty at the top of the Bundesliga after a 4-0 win over Wolfsburg on Friday night, making it five wins in a row for the Bavarians.
Bayern has won a tremendous victory, and their star player has gone down in history.
Muller, Upamecano, and Sane scored the first three goals, but Lewandowski came up in the closing few minutes to volley home his team’s fourth goal, and his 43rd of the season.
Robert Lewandowski equals Gerd Muller’s 50-year-old Bundesliga record for most goals in a calendar year.
Following a very balanced first half, Bayern stepped up their game in the second, and those three goals demonstrated just how excellent the Bavarians can be when playing with this level of talent.
Even if he didn’t score five goals in the first eight minutes as he did against Wolfsburg, Lewandowski had a night to remember.
He also completed a critical pass, an interception, and two aerial duels, and half of his game-high six shots were on target.
He is, and will continue to be, the best player in the Bundesliga.
