The Super Eagles midfielder has been without a club for more than two months, but looking likely join a Swiss Super League team.
Luzern, who have won the Swiss Cup three times, are considering to grab the services of the 24-year-old – Kelechi Nwakali, who is now without a club.
Nwakali shot to prominence during the 2015 Under-17 World Cup thanks to his outstanding display in the build-up to Nigeria’s victory.
Since then, however, the Super Eagles midfielder has battled to gain a strong grasp on his game.
After being freed by Arsenal in 2019, Nwakali moved to Huesca, where he battled to find a starting spot until last season, when he had a decent run of games.
Regrettably, after a disagreement with the Spanish club, the Nigerian international’s contract was cancelled upon his return from the 2014 Africa Cup of Nations.
If the deal goes through, it will be Nwakali’s first time in Switzerland, and he will try to assist them improve their ranking next season after they barely avoided relegation last season.
