Fulham defeated Chelsea 2-1 in a West London Derby at Craven Cottage, extending Chelsea’s poor record in the 2022–2023 English Premier League campaign.

Graham Potter’s team had a strong start to the game, controlling play, and nearly took the lead through Hall and Joao Felix but were unable to score.

The first goal for Fulham came in the game’s 25th minute when former Chelsea star Willian fired from inside the Blues 18-yard box. The ball hit a Chelsea player in the leg and bounced into the net.

In the 47th minute of the second half, Chelsea’s defensive man – Kalidou Koulibaly managed to equalize for the Blues.

Portuguese-born Joao Felix, who Chelsea recently acquired from Spanish club Atletico Madrid, was sent off from the game in the 58th minute for a rough tackle on a Fulham player.

The home team took a deserving lead in the 73rd minute of the second half thanks to a Carlos Viniscius header assisted by Andreas Pereira.

Both Chelsea’s Carney Chukwuemeka and Fulham’s Tosin Adarabioyo, who are both eligible for the Super Eagles, made important contributions to their teams.

Despite Chelsea’s late addition of three senior players, including Ziyech, Gallagher, and Cucurella, in an effort to change the course, Fulham won the West London Derby with a 2-1 victory.

In the English Premier League rankings, Fulham has climbed to the top six with the win against Chelsea and 31 points after 19 games.

Additionally, it indicates Chelsea’s current performance, which includes only one win in nine games, is appalling.
