It’s the business end of the season across Europe with season-defining encounters slated for later today in most of the domestic leagues.
For certain clubs, they need their Nigerian goal machines today more than ever as they all look to finish the season on a high.
So, we’ve selected four of them who need to score one or more goals today to give their teams a better chance of either lifting a title, qualifying for the Champions League or avoiding the dreaded relegation.
Terem Moffi, Lorient
The modest Ligue 1 side, Lorient FC find themselves deep inside the relegation waters with just a game left to play.
They are just a point above Nantes, who have another Nigerian in their payroll, Moses Simon. But this season, Lorient have had the better Nigerian in the Ligue 1 in Moffi.

The 21-year-old has had a brilliant breakthrough season, 14 goals and two assists in 25 Ligue 1 starts means the lad and his goals are capable of saving them today.
However, he hasn’t scored or assisted a goal since May 2, and tonight’s crucial tie could be a very solid time to rediscover some of that form.
Victor Osimhen, SSC Napoli
Unlike Moffi, Osimhen and Napoli are in a rat race with two giants of Italian football, AC Milan and dethroned champions, Juventus for who pick the final two UCL slots in the league.
The side from Naples is currently fourth, on the same points (76) as third-placed Milan, fifth-placed Juventus just a point below going into the final game of the season today.

Napoli take on Hellas Verona at home and would be banking on their in form Nigerian star, Osimhen, who has contributed 12 goals in 15 Serie A starts for the club this season.
Kelechi Iheanacho, Leicester City
Despite all their heroics this campaign, which includes spending more days in the top four than all the big teams in the PL, thunder is about to strike at the same place for the Foxes.
Leicester could drop to the Europa League except Senior man and his magic wand come to their rescue today against Tottenham at the King Power.

The Foxes don’t have their destiny in their own hands though, while they need to beat the Spurs, even that may not be enough as Liverpool who hosts Crystal Palace need to drop a point or more.
But we need to trust senior man Iheanacho and his shower gel, 12 goals and two assists in 15 PL starts are enough reasons to believe in him to provide the goods.
Paul Onuachu, Genk
33 goals in 38 Jupiler league matches is no easy feat for anyone, but that is what Paul Onuachu has achieved at Genk this season.
But given what is happening today, the club needs him to score the most important and decisive goal or two later today.

Genk take on Club Brugge is a clear title decider, both clubs are only separated by just three points and a win for Genk today could see them celebrate wildly given their superior goal difference.
Therefore, while Onuachu has had an incredible campaign so far, today presents him an opportunity to add to that most historically.
