Nigerian player – Friday Ubi Etim might have found that breakthrough in the Portuguese league, and he is extremely motivated to keep working hard after scoring his first league goal of the season for F.C. Vizela.
After netting a goal in FC Vizela’s 2-0 away victory over Pacos Ferreira during their Primeira Liga game on Sunday night, Etim made his grand debut into the limelight.
Both teams failed to capitalise on their chances at the Estádio da Mata Real, leading to the first half of the game finishing in a stalemate.
Vizela’s head coach Alvaro Pacheco made the wise choice to add Etim for the second half in order to spice things up and three minutes following his arrival, the Nigerian repaid the coach with a goal.
Etim’s excellent right-footed shot beat Paco’s goalkeeper Igor Vekic, who then conceded a stunning header from Bruno Wilson to give the visitors a 2-0 triumph.
Etim’s performance caught the attention of the media since he managed to perform remarkably well despite having only played three times with Vizela’s first team prior to the match.
Etim played 45 minutes, winning 5 duels and making 5 of 11 passes (including one crucial pass).
The 20-year-old won the game’s man of the match award after creating one significant opportunity and finishing with it.
“1st @ligaportugal Goal ✔️ MOTM ✔️ +3p ✔️ Motivated to keep working! #ThankYouLORD???” – he wrote on his twitter page.

Etim got into good positions and used his tremendous knowledge of the game to do so, but he still has to work on his technique as he missed two big opportunities.
