Enyimba FC, the current champions of the Nigeria Premier League, have set a high price of ₦450,000,000 (€500,000) for their talented striker, Emeka Obioma.
After winning their ninth league title recently, Enyimba FC is determined to keep their key players in order to increase their chances of dominating the continent in the next season.
However, the 22-year-old forward has expressed his desire to explore other opportunities as his contract is nearing its end.
Enyimba FC clinched the Nigeria Premier League title two weeks ago by winning the Super Six playoffs in Lagos State.
They accumulated nine points, tying with Remo Stars and Rivers United, but secured the championship due to their better goal difference.
Chukwuemeka Obioma played a significant role in their success, scoring an impressive 16 goals in over 20 matches throughout the season.
Chukwuemeka Obioma’s outstanding performance earned him the prestigious 2022/2023 Nigeria Premier League Golden Boot award.
He had the highest number of goals in the league and became the first and only player to score a hat-trick in a home game.
Several clubs from Nigeria, Africa, and Europe have shown interest in acquiring Chukwuemeka Obioma. Currently, Zamalek from the Egyptian Premier League seems to be the front-runner.
However, Enyimba FC, determined to achieve their continental ambitions, is hesitant to let go of their star striker.
Despite the club’s desire to keep Obioma, he has not shown any inclination to sign a contract extension, indicating his eagerness to explore new opportunities once his contract expires in the summer.
Considering the circumstances, Enyimba FC is now willing to consider offers for Chukwuemeka Obioma, but they expect potential buyers to demonstrate genuine interest, given his value.
Enyimba FC aims to begin their journey towards continental dominance in August later this year.
