Chelsea defeated Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 in the first leg of their EFL Cup semi-final at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday evening.
Kai Havertz’s opening goal and Ben Davies’ own goal have placed the Blues in control of the tie going into the second leg.
In the second half, Thomas Tuchel’s side could have put themselves in a better position, but they completely lacked the sharp edge in the final third.
However, Chelsea are very well positioned in their effort to move to the EFL Cup final, while Tottenham can be happy they are not totally out of the tie.
The return leg of the contest will take place at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on January 12.
The Blues will be facing Chesterfield next in the third round of the FA Cup against at home on Saturday.
While Spurs will also be looking to battle Morecambe in FA Cup at home on Sunday.
