A goal from Diogo Jota and Fabinho spot kick was all Liverpool needed to beat Watford 1-0 at Anfield on Saturday afternoon in Premier League action.

The Reds have won nine Premier League games in a row, including a 2-0 victory over Arsenal before the international break.

While Watford, who are battling to stay in the Premier League; were in 18th spot and three points from safety, with several teams ahead of them having games in hand before coming into the clash.

Last time out, they enhanced their chances by beating Southampton 2-1 away from home, and they were hoping for a repeat performance this time.

Despite Watford’s strong start, Liverpool lead 1-0 at halftime thanks to Jota’s 22nd-minute header.

Just 30 seconds before, the Reds rushed up the other end, with Jota meeting a cross from Gomez, who put Liverpool ahead.

The hosts were not at their best in the first half and should have gone ahead when Jota was denied by Foster from close range.

Before late in the game, Fabinho scored from the penalty spot to give the home side the win and all three points.

The final score is in favour of the home team. Watford played well but failed to take their chances.

Jurgen Klopp’s team will face Manchester City in a critical title clash next weekend. Watford, meanwhile, is in 18th place, three points from safety, and their next match is against Leeds.
