The 24-year-old scored the opener at the Stadio Olimpico but it wasn’t enough as the Jose Morinho side came from behind to secure a 1-1 draw against the relegation battling side.

Venezia started the game on a flying note as they grabbed the lead barely a minute into the game through David Okereke, who scored with a nice header from the centre of the box to the bottom left corner.

The forward pulled away from the defenders to power home Mattia Aramu’s cross with a stunning header.

31 minutes later, Sofian Kiyine was shown a second yellow card and then, a red card for violent conduct after a VAR decision, reducing Venezia to ten men.

Pellegrini hit the cross bar twice in search on a goal but the visitors held on to their lead till the interval and it only took Roma 76 minutes to find the equalizer through Eldor Shomurodov as he bounced on a lose ball to level the scores.

Roma should have grabbed the lead late into the game but only managed to hit the bar twice.

The 1-1 draw leaves Venezia at the submit of the Serie A table with 26 and they are officially relegated while AS Roma with 60 points are hoping for Foirentina to drop points to they could grab UEFA Conference League spot.

Venezia will be hosting Cagliari in their last game of the season on Sunday, May 22 at the Pier Luigi Penzo Stadium while Roma will be looking to entertain Torino with the hopes of Europa Conference League spot.

In 33 appearances for Venezia in all competitions, David Okereke only managed to score seven goals.
