Stephen Odey has made an impressive start to his 2023/23 campaign, scoring the season opener for Randers FC and helping them secure a late draw against Odense BK on Sunday.
Stephen Odey broke the deadlock for Randers FC early in the Danish Superliga clash, stunning the home fans with a tight-angle goal just 10 minutes into the game.
However, the hosts regrouped and scored twice in eleven minutes, gaining full control of the match.
Odense BK’s Attacking Midfielder, Rami Al Hajj, equalized in the 26th minute through a spot kick, and Sierra Leonean forward Mohamed Buya Turay scored in the 37th minute to give the home team the lead.
During the closely contested encounter, the 25-year-old Nigerian forward played the entire 90 minutes and managed to take three shots on goal.
In the 80th minute, the visitors thought they had found the leveler through Stephen Odey, but a VAR review revealed an offside, and the goal was disallowed.
Nevertheless, the away fans remained optimistic, and in the final moments of additional time, Swedish centre-back Hugo Andersson scored the equalizing goal, resulting in a 2-2 draw when the final whistle blew.
As a result of the draw, Odense BK holds the 6th position, while Randers FC occupies the 5th position in the Danish Superliga.
In their last five meetings, Randers FC from East Jutland has managed to secure victory only twice by a narrow margin.
