Super Eagles man – Cyriel Dessers, has now scored three goals in his first two games this season with two fine goals in KRC Genk’s home victory.

The forward added two more goals to his tally this season by grabbing a brace in KRC Genk’s 3-1 Belgian Jupiler Pro League victory over Standard Liege.

After netting the equalizer in their 3-2 away defeat to Club Brugge at the Jan Breydel Stadium last week Sunday, the forward has scored twice this time.

The Nigerian forward was the focal point of Genk’s attacking line as they attempted to make amends for their tight defeat to Club Brugge on Matchday 1.

At the Cristal Arena on Sunday, the 27-year-old scored the game’s first goal, gave an assist, and then converted a penalty kick to give Genk the victory and all three points.

Five minutes into the game, Dessers scored on Paintsil’s assist to give Genk a well-deserved lead and allay the fears of the home crowd.

The Super Eagles striker then switched to being a provider for Tresor Ndayishimiye, who swiftly made it 2-0 for the home team in the 16th minute as Genk continued to dominate the opening minutes of the first half.

Denis Dragus’ goal in the 24th minute gave Standard Liege a little hope and brought them back into the game.

Before Genk had their two goals lead back as Dessers completed the scoring in the first half through a penalty kick that was converted on the second attempt in the 29th minute.

Cyriel Dessers only featured for 86 minutes in the game before Andras Nemeth, a 19-year-old attacker from Hungary, took his position.
