Côte d’Ivoire sends Algeria out of Afcon 2021, Sierra Leone out

After a 3-1 Group E victory in Douala on Thursday, Ivory Coast knocked defending champions, Algeria out of the Africa Cup of Nations.

The Elephants earned goals from Franck Kessie, Ibrahim Sangare, and Nicolas Pepe, while the North Africans got a goal back from Sofiane Bendebka.

The Elephants of Ivory Coast smashed the Desert Warriors apart to set up a date with Egypt. After a dismal performance in Cameroon, Djamel Belmadi’s team was eliminated from the tournament without a win.

Equatorial Guinea, on the other hand advanced to the knockout stage after a 1-0 victory over Sierra Leone in Limbe.

Equatorial Guinea finished second with six points after Pablo Ganet netted the game’s lone goal in the 38th minute.

Leone Stars were eliminated from the competition with only two points, yet they finished third, ahead of Algeria.
