Coppa Italia: Ebuehi’s decisive kick lands new club Venezia into second round

Super Eagles man – Tyronne Ebuehi scored the winning penalty for Serie A newly promoted club Venezia as they beat Frosinone 8-7 on penalties to progress to the round of 16 of the Coppa Italia on Sunday.

The Nigerian defender denied Fabio Grosso’s men of a place in the next round where they will face the winner of Bologna vs Ternana.

Frosinone broke the deadlock in extra time after Ciano nodded on a corner for Mirko Gori to tap in at the back post.

Francesco Di Mariano the converted a penalty to pulled Venezia back on level terms.

The game was decided on penalties after regular time ended 1-1, Venezia secured their spot by winning 9-8 after Ebuehi netted the winning goal in sudden death.

Raffaele Maiello, Tanner Tessman and Federico Gatti spot-kicks were all saved, before the 25-year-old Nigerian right-back converted the winning kick.

Venezia will be battling Bologna or Ternana in the second round.
