Tuzlaspor of Turkey’s second division has formally signed Nigerian international Sikiru Olatunbosun as a free agent.
Sikiru Olatunbosun, who had previously played for Smouha of the Egyptian Premier Regular, agreed to join Rivers United on a free transfer. However, he only made 10 appearances for the team during the just-completed league season.
In his short spell with the Nigeria Professional Football League champions, the 26-year-old, who is versatile on both wings, only managed to score just one goal.
Olatunbosun made the decision to join Plateau United in 2018 after leaving MFM, although he ultimately left them in 2019 to start his first stint in Turkey.
After playing in 47 games in the second division, two cup games, and featuring for Ankaraspor and Menemenspor in the TFF First League between 2019 and 2021, the winger makes a return to Turkey.
The forward left Ankaraspor for Smouha in September 2021 and later joined Rivers United, the freshly crowned Nigerian champions, in the NPFL in 2022.
In order to compete in the 2014 Expo Unity World Cup, Olatunbosun was chosen for a Nigeria XI. In the tournament’s title game against a Colombia XI, which resulted in a 7-0 rout, he scored twice.
In a friendly encounter against Togo in June 2017, he made his debut for the Nigerian national football team after entering the game as a sub.
