Barcelona on Sunday evening secured a 1-0 win against Mallorca in their La Liga game, thanks to Luuk De Jong’s 44th-minute header.

Xavi’s team was looking confident in control, pressing and passing past the hosts, but stuttered outside the 18-yard box, where a lack of clinical incision prevented Barcelona from scoring more goals.

Mallorca just did not put up enough of a fight in the attacking third, forcing Ter Stegen to make only three stops in a gritty match that saw 47 fouls.

Mallorca has now been held scoreless at home for the third match in a row, and they remain in 15th place.

Barcelona is now in fifth place, just one point behind a Champions League spot at the halfway mark of the season.

Mallorca is in Copa del Rey action this week, travelling to Eibar, before a weekend away trip to Levante in LaLiga.

While Barcelona will play Linares Deportivo in the cup on Wednesday before facing Granada in LaLiga on Saturday.
