José Peseiro, the Head Coach of the Super Eagles, has sent out invitations to two players from the domestic league, as well as a goalkeeper and defender from Rivers United, for the upcoming AFCON qualifier against Sierra Leone in 2023.

This crucial Group A match is set to be held on June 18.

The selected players who will join the team include Victor Sochima, the goalkeeper from Rivers United, and Ebube Duru, a defender.

Additionally, Peseiro has called up Olorunleke Ojo from Enyimba International and Divine Nwachukwu from Bendel Insurance, both of whom ply their trade in the domestic league, NPFL.

Among the notable players included in the squad for the qualifying match are goalkeeper Adebayo Adeleye, defender William Ekong, midfielder Alex Iwobi, and forward Moses Simon.

The 23-man list further features Kenneth Omeruo, Zaidu Sanusi, Calvin Bassey, Oluwasemilogo Ajayi, and Bright Osayi-Samuel.

The remaining players on the roster consist of midfielders Wilfred Ndidi and Frank Onyeka, along with forwards Samuel Chukwueze, Taiwo Awoniyi, and Kelechi Iheanacho.

Currently, the Super Eagles lead their qualification group with nine points from four matches, followed closely by Guinea Bissau’s Wild Dogs, who have accumulated seven points.

The Leone Stars, despite giving the Eagles a tough challenge in Abuja and ultimately succumbing to a 2-1 defeat, currently have five points.

Meanwhile, Sao Tome and Principe, the Super Eagles’ opponents in the series’ final game in September, sit at the bottom of the group with only one point.

The match between Nigeria and Sierra Leone is scheduled to take place at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Stadium in Monrovia at 5 p.m. on June 18. As Sierra Leone lacks approved international stadiums, the Leone Stars will be hosting their matches in Liberia.
